American Theater Hall of Fame

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The American Theater Hall of Fame is located in New York City . It was founded in 1971 by Earl Blackwell , Gerard Oestreicher , James M. Nederlander and Arnold Weissberger . Since then, theater professionals from the fields of acting , writing , stage and costume design, directing and production have been accepted into the Theater Hall of Fame .

Conditions for admission are a career on Broadway of at least 25 years and at least five main roles (actor-leading roles) in various theater productions. The decision on admission is made by 400 employees of the Theater Hall of Fame who participated in elections and the Association of American Theater Critics. The induction ceremony for those honored with a nameplate is finally held in New York's George Gershwin Theater.
