Fritz Weaver

Fritz William Weaver (born January 19, 1926 in Pittsburgh , Pennsylvania , † November 26, 2016 in New York City , New York ) was an American film and stage actor . He has also appeared in musicals on Broadway.

Life

Fritz Weaver, who was a conscientious objector in World War II , studied at the University of Chicago , where he obtained a Bachelor of Arts . Weaver has appeared on Broadway since the 1950s and was awarded a Tony Award in 1970.

Weaver could also be won over for countless television series and feature films. He became internationally known for his leading role in the 1978 miniseries Holocaust - The History of the Weiss Family . Weaver received an Emmy nomination for his portrayal of a persecuted Jew during the Nazi era . His work includes more than 130 film and television productions.

Fritz Weaver was married twice. He married the actress Sylvia Short on February 7, 1953 . The marriage, which was divorced in 1979, had two children. Since 1997, Weaver was married to Rochelle Oliver , who is also an actress.

Fritz Weaver was the brother of production designer Mary Dodson .
