Leslie Barbara Carter , married Ashton (* 6. June 1986 in Tampa , † 31 January 2012 in Westfield , Chautauqua County, New York ) was an American pop - singer .

Leslie Carter was best known as the sister of teen idols Nick Carter ( Backstreet Boys ) and Aaron Carter in the late 1990s . In 1999 she got a recording deal with DreamWorks Records and began working on her debut album. In April 2001 she released her first single, the bubblegum pop song Like Wow! . The song stayed at position 99 on the Billboard charts for a week and was also used in the soundtrack of the film Shrek and in the US version of the video game Donkey Konga . The album of the same name was canceled by their music label shortly before it was released and never officially released; Carter soon lost her record deal as well.

It was not until December 2005 that Carter was musically active again, now in the field of pop-rock . In 2006 she became part of the band The Other Half , which existed until 2009. In late 2006 she starred in the documentary soap House of Carters . In 2008 she married and moved to Toronto , and in 2011 she had a daughter.

On January 31, 2012, Carter was found unconscious at her father's home in Mayville , New York, and was admitted to Westfield Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at the age of 25. According to police reports, she died of a drug overdose; allegedly she had previously suffered from drug addiction for a long time . Leslie Carter was buried in Chautauqua .
