Tomoya Echigo ( Japanese 越 後 智 也 , Echigo Tomoya ; born August 18, 1992 ) is a Japanese ice hockey player who has been under contract with the Ōji Eagles from the Asia League Ice Hockey since 2015 .

Career

Tomoya Echigo started ice hockey with Komazawa Tomakomai, where he played in the Japan Ice Hockey League at the age of 16 . After he played for the team at Chūō University from 2010 to 2012 , he temporarily interrupted his club career. Since 2015 he has been playing with the Ōji Eagles in the Asia League Ice Hockey .

International

For Japan, Echigo initially took part in the U18 World Championships in 2009 and 2010 in Division I in the junior division. He then played with the Japanese juniors at the U20 World Cup in 2012, also in Division I. He also played with the Japanese student selection at the 2013 Winter Universiades in Italian Trentino and in 2015 in Granada, Spain .

For the Japanese men's team he played for the first time at the 2018 World Cup in Division I.
