Tomoya Tamura ( Japanese 田村 朋 也 , Tamura Tomoya ; born August 20, 1992 in Toyoake ) is a Japanese sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run .

Athletic career

Tomoya Tamura gained his first international experience in 2014 in the 4 x 400 meter relay at the 2014 Athletics Continental Cup in Marrakech with the Asian team, where he finished fourth in 3: 03.77 minutes. The following year he took part with the relay at the World Championships in Beijing , but was eliminated there with 3: 02.97 minutes in the lead-up . In 2016 he took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , but did not reach the final there either with 3: 02.95 min . At the IAAF World Relays 2017 in the Bahamas , the Japanese team could not finish their preliminary run and at the IAAF World Relays 2019 in Yokohama , he finished seventh in the 4 x 200 meter relay in 1: 22.67 minutes . In the mixed relay, he also took part in the World Championships in Doha at the end of September , but was eliminated there with 3: 18.77 minutes in the preliminary round.

Tamura studied at Chūkyō University and works for Sumitomo Denkō Steel Wire for whose running team he also competes.
