Tonic was a jazz club in New York City .

The Tonic (107 Norfolk Street, New York City) was a venue for experimental and avant-garde music; the club existed from 1998 to 2007. There, among others, Cat Power , Sonic Youth , Yoko Ono , Cecil Taylor , Dave Douglas , Norah Jones or Medeski, Martin & Wood presented their music. At the farewell concert, u. a. Marc Ribot , Ned Rothenberg , Matthew Shipp and Butch Morris .

In Tonic concert recordings emerged u. a. by Marco Benevento , Andrea Centazzo , Fred Frith , Milford Graves , Dennis González , Christian McBride , William Parker , Jenny Scheinman , Elliott Sharp , Wadada Leo Smith and John Zorn .
