Tony DeBoom (born December 11, 1968 in Cedar Rapids , Iowa ; as Anthony Richard DeBoom ) is a former American triathlete and Ironman winner (2002).

Career

Tony DeBoom finished fourth at his first start on the Ironman distance (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) in August 1997 at the first Ironman Switzerland event in Zurich.
He has been married to Elize DeBoom since August 2000 .

In June 2002 he won the Ironman Utah , which had to be abandoned on the swimming distance after strong storms and played as a duathlon. He has not appeared internationally since 2002.

His younger brother Tim DeBoom (* 1970) was active as a triathlete until 2011 and won the Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championships) twice .

Tony DeBoom now works as an illustrator.
