Tony Niessner (born July 8, 1906 in Prague , † November 18, 1986 in Vienna ) was an actor , director and singer .

Life

After dropping out of musicology studies , he tried singing in Prague . He made several guest appearances at German theaters before he made his debut at the Johann Strauss Theater in Vienna in 1935 , where he was also engaged after the Second World War and staged at the Raimund Theater, at other theaters in Vienna and abroad (including one in Cairo Musical). Together with Karl Grell he moderated the series " Der tönende Operettenführer " and " Wiener Sang-Wiener Klang ". Niessner was also a well-known Wienerlied singer.

His final resting place is in the Grinzinger Friedhof (Gr. 22, R. 6, No. 1C) in Vienna.
