Toons Mag is an online drawing magazine that publishes illustrations , caricatures, comic strips and animations. It is a multilingual and international publishing platform for comics, political and satirical caricatures, as well as press drawings published by Arifur Rahman.

background

When a harmless drawing was published in a regular edition of a national newspaper in Bangladesh in 2017, Arifur Rahman's drawings were banned and censored. After it was released , he was tortured and detained for six months and three days. After he was allowed to leave prison in 2008, no newspapers dared to print his drawings. He wanted to bring them to the public and therefore decided to bring out his own drawing magazine. However, there was not enough money for printing. For this reason, in 2009 Arifur Rahman designed a website for the publication of drawings, comics and animations called "Toons Mag". The aim is to support freedom of expression and openness and to build an international network of illustrators.

Prices

Toons Mag won The BOBs award for the “best online activists” class in 2015 with Bengali. The international broadcasting company Deutsche Welle made competition .
