The pot dearling or lead gray dearling ( Cyathus olla ) is a mushroom belonging to the genus dearling .
Appearance
The fruit bodies are 0.7–1.2 cm high, obovate to cylindrical, closed with a gray epiphragm when immature, the outer wall is finely haired. The peridia usually points outwards at the end of ripening and is smooth and (lead) gray to brown on the inside. The ellipsoidal to ovoid, 11–12 × 7–8 µm large spores are located in gray, lenticular, 2–3 mm wide peridoles.
ecology
The potted dearling occurs as a saprobiont mostly outside of the forest in fields, gardens and dry grass on pieces of wood or remnants of grass and herbs, often apparently growing on the ground. It especially likes to grow on bark mulch. The Topf dearling is distributed almost worldwide, in Europe it occurs from the Mediterranean region to Ireland, Scotland and central Scandinavia.
meaning
The species is out of the question as an edible mushroom and has no economic significance.
