The Toquima Range is a mountain range in the state of Nevada in the United States . It runs in northeast-southwest direction and is mostly in Nye County and with the northern part in Lander County .

The highest mountain of the ridge located in the Great Basin in the Basin and Range Province is the three-peaked Mount Jefferson with 3642 m . The area around the mountains is very sparsely populated. To the west is the Big Smoky Valley with Nevada State Route 376 , which separates the mountains from the Toiyabe Range . In the east is the Monitor Valley , which lies between Toquima Range and the Monitor Range . In the far north, US Highway 50 runs past the Range and leads to Austin . Tonopah is located about 40 km south of the mountain range on US Highway 6 .
Most of the mountains are located in the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest , an area of 145 km² is also strictly protected as Alta Toquima Wilderness .
