Torben Laidig (born March 13, 1994 in Schwäbisch Hall , Baden-Württemberg ) is a German athlete who specializes in the pole vault .

career path

Laidig received a scholarship and has been studying biochemistry in the USA since January 2014 .

Athletic career

Torben Laidig was a sport enthusiast from an early age and joined TSV Sulzdorf at the age of six . He does gymnastics, does athletics and also played handball from 2005 to 2008 before concentrating on athletics, especially the pole vault.

In 2011 Laidig won silver at the European Youth Olympic Festival (EYOF) in Trabzon .

In 2013 he became German U20 runner-up .

In 2015 Laidig became German U23 champion .

In 2016 he took 3rd place at the German Championships .

In 2017, Laidig won the 90th Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin (Texas) in his section on April 1st with a personal best of 5.70 m and with this height also met the norm for the World Championships in London .

Laidig is a member of the B-team of the German Athletics Association (DLV) and the DLV Junior Elite Team 2017.

Club affiliations

Laidig started for the WGL Schwäbisch Hall Athletics Community , his parent club has been TSV Sulzdorf since 2000 . The LAV Stadtwerke Tübingen with the parent club TSG Tübingen announced the arrival of Laidig from 2018.
