Tornike Shengelia ( Georgian თორნიკე შენგელია ; born October 5, 1991 in Tbilisi ) is a Georgian basketball player .
career
Shengelia moved to Spain as a teenager and was trained in the Valencia Basket Club's youth program . In the men's team of the club from Valencia , which trade as Power Electronics , he was also used in individual games of the ULEB Eurocup , which the Spanish club won in the final in 2010 against the German representative Alba Berlin .
For the 2010/11 season he was committed by the Belgian champion Spirou BC from Charleroi , who awarded him to the league rivals from Pepinster . After he shone as MVP with 29.9 points per game at the U20 European Championship in Division B and enabled the Georgian junior selection to return to the circle of the best European junior teams, he was also included in the men's selection at the European Championship two months later - 2011 final round appointed. There, the selection was able to qualify after two preliminary round victories for the intermediate round of the top twelve teams, but where they remained without a win and were eliminated.
In the 2011/12 season he is now in the squad of Spirou BC, who, as Belgian champion, won participation in the top European division ULEB Euroleague 2011/12 through an additional qualification tournament in their own hall .
NBA
In the 2012 NBA Draft , Shengelia was selected 54th by the Philadelphia 76ers . However, he never played for the 76ers as he was transferred to the Brooklyn Nets before the start of the season . He played for the Nets until January 2014. However, Shengelia was never able to establish itself sustainably in the rotation. January 2014 he was traded by the Nets to the Chicago Bulls . In return, Guard Marquis Teague moved to the Nets. After only 9 missions, Tornike was released by the Bulls on April 14, 2014.
Shengelia has been playing for Saski Baskonia since the 2014/15 season .
