Marquis Devante Teague (born February 28, 1993 in Indianapolis , Indiana ) is an American basketball player who, after completing his studies, first played as a professional player in the most highly endowed professional league NBA from 2012 . After two seasons he got only one contract with Oklahoma City Blue in the minor league NBA Development League (D-League) for the 2014/15 season . Teague is the younger brother of Jeff Teague , who is a basketball player in the NBA for the Minnesota Timberwolves .
Career
Teague graduated from Pike High School in his hometown. After winning the 2010 U17 World Cup in Hamburg with the US youth team, he was counted among the ten most talented young players of his year when he graduated from school in 2011. Teague went to study at the University of Kentucky , where he played for the college team Wildcats together with Anthony Davis in the Southeastern Conference (SEC) of the NCAA under the renowned coach John Calipari . The Wildcats reached the Final Four of the national NCAA finals tournament for the second year in a row in 2012 , where they won the prestigious NCAA final against the Jayhawks of the University of Kansas for the eighth time in their history after a break of 14 years .
After just a year in the NCAA, Teague signed up for the Entry Draft of the National Basketball Association's highest endowed professional league , where he was selected in the 2012 NBA Draft in 29th position by the Chicago Bulls. Here, however, the young player showed difficulties in adapting and, as a rookie, made 56 appearances with less than ten minutes of average playing time per game. Instead, he often played for the farm team Iowa Energy in the D-League, especially in his second season . After another 19 appearances in the NBA for the Bulls, Teague came to the Brooklyn Nets in a player swap in February 2014, where he had another 21 appearances in the NBA 2013/14 . Shortly before the start of the NBA 2014/15 season , he was exchanged for the Philadelphia 76ers in mid-October 2014 , who released him from his contract shortly before the start of the season. Via the D-League draft, Teague then got a place with the Oklahoma City Blue in November 2014, so he has to continue his career in the minor league for the time being.
