Torsten Schmitt (born June 17, 1981 in Düsseldorf ) is a German ice hockey goalkeeper who has been playing for Moskitos Essen from the Oberliga West since 2011 .

Career

Torsten Schmitt played for the German junior national team at the age of 17 . There he showed consistently good performances and conceded an average of only 2.53 goals per game in 6 games. In the 2000/2001 season he then ran for the Düsseldorfer EG .

After three average seasons at DEG, as well as a short interlude with the Kölner Haie junior team in the Regionalliga NRW, Schmitt decided to change clubs and joined the Duisburger Füchsen from the 2nd Bundesliga .

Despite conceding 3.53 goals per game, he showed good performance and recommended himself for the league rival SC Riessersee , who signed him for the 2003/2004 season . Here Schmitt was able to convince and showed his best career performance so far. In 21 games he conceded only 2.00 goals per game, a very good statistic for a goalie.

Other stations in the following years included the Ratinger Ice Aliens , with whom he played in the major league for two years , and EV Landsberg . In the summer of 2007 he then moved to EC Bad Nauheim , where he only showed average performance and was eventually ousted by David-Lee Paton during the season .

His contract in Bad Nauheim was not extended. Thereupon those responsible at EHC Dortmund became aware of the 27-year-old and convinced him of a commitment in the regional league. Born in Düsseldorf, he won the 2008/09 regional league championship with the elks . For the 2009/10 season Schmitt signed a contract with Moskitos Essen , with which he was able to celebrate the regional league championship and promotion to the major league. For the 2010/11 season he switched to the Ratinger Ice Aliens , before returning to the Mosquitos Essen at the beginning of 2011.
