Total Death is an Italian thrash and death metal band from Varese that was formed in 2000.
history
The band was founded in 2000 and consisted of bassist Umberto "Umbe" Restelli, singer Massimo "Max" Battioli and drummer Matteo "Teo" Malvica. After several guitarists had worked in the band, Paolo "Azzi" Azzimonti joined the group in 2003 as a permanent guitarist. In this line-up, they recorded a rehearsal demo and another called Thrash Division , which was released on the Thai label Roots Active Productions and later re-released as a split release with the Swedish band Salvator on the Norwegian label Twisted Face Productions . In 2006 Malvica left the line-up, after which the band was partially inactive until 2008. During this time she made a few contributions to various samplers. In 2009 the band went into the studio to record their debut album Well of Madness , which was released in 2010 on the Ukrainian label Ukragh Productions . In their career, the band has played with Necrodeath , Warhammer , Distruzione , Hyades and Death Mechanism, among others . In 2015 the album The Pound of Flesh was released via Punishment 18 Records .

According to V.Srikar from metal-temple.com , The Pound of Flesh contains Thrash Metal, which sounds contemporary, but should also please fans of old-school Thrash Metal. The songs would vary in speed while using technically demanding riffs . In addition, the band sounds heavily influenced by Technical Death Metal . The singing is pleasant, but not innovative. Matt Coe from eternal-terror.com described the album's music as Thrash Metal with Death Metal influences, which sounds like a mixture of early Slayer , Exhorder of the 1990s and Forbidden . The vocals sound rough and tend towards John Tardy's , although Azzimonti sounds clearer. The song Four Walls - The Perfection of Black shows parallels to Death's Pull the Plug , while Haunted is based on “tribal music”, such as with Sepultura .
