The Toyota All-Star Showdown was an All-Star Race of the NASCAR series for successful drivers of the lower NASCAR racing classes, as well as the Canadian NASCAR Championship and the Mexican NASCAR Championship . The Toyota All-Star Showdown took place at Irwindale Speedway in suburban Los Angeles from 2003 to 2012 .

Format of the event until 2006

The driver field consisted of drivers from the AutoZone Elite Divisions ( Northwest Division , Southeast Division , Southwest Division and Midwest Division ) and the Grand National Divisions ( NASCAR Camping World East Series , NASCAR Camping World West Series ).

The top 15 drivers in the scores of the Grand National Divisions formed the field of drivers for the Grand National All-Star Race. The top 10 points in the AutoZone Elite Divisions formed the field of drivers for the Elite All-Star Race.

On the Friday before the main event, the driver fields of both divisions were divided. The halved fields of drivers then took part in qualifying races that can be compared with the Gatorade Duel of the Sprint Cup . Through these races the starting order of the main races was determined. Drivers who took part in the first qualifying race started the main race on the inner line. Drivers participating in the second qualifying race started on the outer line in the main race.

Format of the event since 2007

The first race of the weekend was a 150 lap “Super Late Model” race. All NASCAR Whelen All-American Series drivers were eligible to participate.

The race of the Grand National Divisions has been fundamentally changed:

The format change was necessary because the elite divisions were dissolved in 2006.
