The Traun's squill ( Scilla drunensis ) is a species of squill ( Scilla ).

The Traun's bluestar is a perennial , herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 5 to 20 cm. This geophyte forms onions as persistent organs. The flower buds are gray-blue to purple. The ovary is blue, the leaves are grass green. The tepals are 9 to 10 mm long and light gray-blue-purple. The stems are green. The seeds are fresh olive brown, dry dark brown, and 2.5 to 3.5 mm in size. Flowering time is March and April.

The species is tetraploid with 2n = 36.

Occurrence

The Traun's squill grows in noble deciduous forests, especially in alluvial forests, orchards and meadows. It occurs scattered or rarely in the colline to submontane altitude range . In Austria it occurs very rarely in Vienna, in Burgenland, Lower Austria, Upper Austria and Styria.

Systematics

Scilla drunensis belongs to the species group Scilla bifolia agg. and is not always of the species Scilla bifolia s. lat. separated. The species is also called Scilla bifolia subsp. drunensis Speta or Scilla bifolia var. drunensis (Speta) Trávn. guided.
