Travis A. Claridge (* 23. March 1978 in Detroit , Michigan ; † 28. February 2006 in Henderson , Nevada ) was an American American football poker players on the position of the Guards . He played for the Atlanta Falcons in the National Football League (NFL) from 2000 to 2003 .

Youth and college

As a child in Almont , Missouri , he dreamed of a career as an NFL professional. Claridge played college football at the University of Southern California (USC) and was previously at Fort Vancouver High School in Vancouver , Washington .

NFL and CFL

The Atlanta Falcons selected Claridge in the 2000 NFL Draft in the second round as the 37th player. In his first season he played all 16 regular season games from the start. In the second season he was a starter in eleven of his 14 appearances . In his third season he played all 16 games from the start. In the 2003 season he suffered a knee injury and was only able to play six games, after which his contract was not renewed.

In 2004 he signed a contract with the Carolina Panthers , but was released in training camp before the season. In 2005, Claridge played in two games for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League (CFL) before retiring after another injury.

Travis Claridge was found unconscious in his Las Vegas apartment in 2006 and died in the hospital. The Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported on May 10, 2006 that Claridge's early death was due to acute pneumonia (made difficult by breathing difficulties caused by pain medication ).
