AC Trient (formerly Trento Calcio 1921 ) is a football club from the Italian city ​​of Trento .

The club colors are yellow-blue. The club's stadium is the Stadio Briamasco with 4,227 seats.

history

At the beginning of the 20th century, people in Trentino began playing football for the first time. The Unione Ginnastica and Polisportiva Sport Pedestre from Trento were the first sports clubs to include a football department in their program. The Piazza Venezia served as the first football field.

Pro Trento was founded in 1921, and in September 1922 the team played for the first time in the newly built Stadio Briamasco. In autumn 1923 the team was renamed AC Trento . In the inter-war period they played under constantly changing club names, including in the I. Divisione (later Serie C, now Lega Pro).

In the 1945/46 season Trento played in the Girone B of Serie B , where they finished twelfth and thus last place. During the ten years under Renzo Helfer's presidency from 1948 to 1958, the club shuttled back and forth between Serie C and the fourth division.

After helpers, Ito Del Favero became the new president and the club was able to establish itself as the best team in Trentino by shining well in Serie D before returning to Serie C on May 31, 1970 after a playoff against Pordenone could. In the 1978/79 season, the club played in the newly established C1 series, where they finished fourth from last and thus relegated to the C2 series . The following season, however, the team returned to Serie C1 after beating Calcio Padova on penalties . In 1991 the club was relegated to Serie C2, where they stayed four seasons, before relegation to Serie D followed in 1995. Then Trento Calcio shuttled back and forth between the C2 and D series.

Current development

In the 2004/05 season the club was renamed from Nuovo Calcio Trento to Trentino Calcio 1921 , after strong fan protests the club was given its current name Trento Calcio 1921 in 2006 . After the 2008/09 season they fell into the fifth class Eccellenza , but the return to Serie D was accomplished within a year.
