Tresa Rüthers-Seeli (born September 28, 1931 in Falera , Graubünden ) is a Swiss poet who writes in Rhaeto-Romanic .

Life

Tresa Seeli comes from a mountain farming family in Graubünden and has four sisters who, contrary to what was usual at the time, received vocational training because they did not have to work in hotels or households to finance the training of brothers . After secondary school in Ilanz , she first became a textile design teacher, worked for a long time as an au pair in Paris, gave courses in women's education in the cantons of Uri and Graubünden, headed the Gurtnellen mountain home school for a year and then went on to train as a social worker at the social women's school Lucerne .

After marrying Bernd Rüthers in 1962, she lived in Stuttgart , Münster , Berlin and near Konstanz , where she worked as a bookseller . In 1963 their daughter Monica was born.

Since the 1950s she has published poetry and prose (initially under the pseudonym "Melania") in Romance magazines and anthologies . The poetry volumes Tras melli veiders (1987) and Jeu sai… e sai da nuot (Romansh and German, 2003) were published under her name . The German translation was done by Mevina Puorger . The second edition appeared after a few months.

In 2015 the Romanian translation Stiu si nu stiu nimic of her book I know and don't know by Adina Lucia Nistor, Cluj-Napoca, Casa Cartii de Stinta ISBN 978-606-17-0865-9 was published .

honors and awards

The book won a prize from the Canton of Graubünden and the 2004 Schiller Prize from the Swiss Schiller Society. In 2001 she took part in the Festival Mondial de Poesia in Medellín as the representative of Switzerland . In 2006 a volume of 40 poems was published bilingual in Romansh and Serbo-Croatian under the title A Heart of Glass, which was presented at the international "Festival of Poetry" in September 2006 in Smederevo near Belgrade. The translator is the Serbian poet Zlatko Krasni .
