SAO Nazionalnaja sputnikowaja kompanija ( Trikolor TV brand , Russian Триколор ТВ ) is the most popular satellite television provider in Russia . The program can be received in the European part of Russia via Eutelsat -W4 and -W7 and in Siberia and part of the Far East via the Bonum-1 satellite.
Company history
Dmitry Volobuyev, NSK's first executive director, said in 2005:
“The project idea is based on the fact that there is currently a great inequality in Russia in terms of access to television programs. In large cities with a population of more than half a million, no fewer than 15 programs are broadcast from a television tower. But if you are 20 km away from the television tower, the picture transmission deteriorates, after 30 km there are serious problems with reception and after 50 km you can simply forget what the analog TV is. [Those] are the parameters that horrified me. 50 million people in Russia receive only 5 or fewer television programs, usually of low quality. Over 20 million people watch a program, another with very poor quality. "
The company was founded in October 2005 and the transmission in test mode came via the Eutelsat W4 satellite. On November 12, 2005, the transmission of "Trikolor TV" in the European part of Russia (TV channels "Rossija", "Kultura", "REN TV", "DTV", "TV3") began in normal operation. Half a year later, the NSK announced that it had connected 150,000 people to the project within six months. On February 7, 2007, the number of viewers for “Trikolor TV” was 500,000. Soon after, the affordable package “Optimum” was introduced , which consisted of five blocks, each with two channels for each block (“Detskij”, “Kino”, “Sportivnyj”, “Posnawatelnyj” and “Komedija”). The transmission of “Trikolor TV” to Siberia via the “Bonum-1” satellite began on March 1, 2008. A year later, “Trikolor TV” could be seen by 5 million people. On September 15, 2009, NSK and Gazprom-Media Holding signed an agreement on a strategic partnership that regulates the conditions for acquiring Gazprom-Media Holding's control over "Trikolor TV".
“Tricolor Internet” was introduced on February 1, 2010 and the broadcasting of the range of channels in MPEG-4 format began. On December 17, 2010, the transmission of 2 channels in the HDTV format began on the territory of Siberia: Teleputeschestviya HD and HD Life . Since April 1, 2011 NSK has been using 4 transponders at GPKS on EutelsatW7, one is for broadcasting (over 100 broadcasting stations), two others are intended for regional stations in MPEG4 (currently only 5, maximum - 64). They anticipate that they will achieve an increase in sales of Trikolor TV in the corresponding regions by around 30 percent using regional channels.
Issue with series 12 smart cards
- On June 1, 2010, according to the official version of NSK, there was a hacking attack on the company's servers, which led to the mass shutdown of subscribers using Series-12 access cards
- On June 8, 2010, at the conference of “Trikolor TV” dealers in Rostov-on-Don , Vyacheslav Mordachev declared that the company had no relation to what had happened.
- On June 10, 2010, the company began an exchange campaign for cracked smart cards , whereby the exchange was not free of charge.
The simple causes mentioned were: Failed reloading of the provider's software and failure of the conveyor technology. According to official information, more than 25,000 subscribers were affected, and more than “100,000” are mentioned on specialist forums.
Acquisition of the company from Gazprom
On September 15, 2009, the Gazprom Media holding announced that it was interested in taking over NSK. The subscriber bases were merged in an agreement and some of the services and channels of “NTV-Plus” were made available to “Trikolor TV” subscribers. The Federal Antimonopoly Agency became aware of the fact that 97% of the satellite TV viewers were served by Gazprom-Media. The press spokesman for "Trikolor TV" Alexandr Nikiforov stated in mid-2010 that the holding company had not taken over a share control package. The managing director of NSK Vyacheslav Mordachev assured that the period of validity of the declaration of intent with Gazprom-Media had not expired. On August 11, 2010, the newspaper "Vedomosti" announced that the deal was imminent. Allegedly, however, the competitor of “Trikolor TV” “NTV-Plus” is to appear as a buyer.

Reception technology
Official version
The basic equipment supplied is required to receive TV channels. This consists of a « plate » with a diameter of 55 cm (sometimes 60 cm) with a converter , a cable , a receiver that works with DRE Crypt coding (produced by Digi Raum Electronics or General Satellite ) and a «Start» scratch card for the primary activation of the receiver and the Optimum transmission package (with the GS-8300 model - an access card of the subscriber ). Basic equipment consisting of a “DIGI RAUM DRE MP4” CAM module and a “tricolor card” can be purchased for each receiver.
Unofficial version
If an access card is available, any receiver that works with the DRE-Crypt and MPEG-4 coding (or a receiver with a CAM module that supports this type of coding) is suitable for receiving TV programs . Only the access cards for subscribers are not for sale.

In addition to the television channels that are part of the “Tricolor TV” packages, subscribers can receive signals from several television and radio stations broadcast outdoors (FTA). Electronic program guide
Electronic Program Guide ( EPG ), an electronic television program that is presented on the screen. The program guide shows the television program for each "Trikolor TV" TV channel as well as additional information: broadcast type, year of production, cast, age restrictions, etc. The program appears one week in advance.
Video chat
"Videochat" is a service for displaying e-mails sent from a mobile phone or via the Internet in a special window on the screen. The chat window is called by pressing a button on the receiver console. The chat is an opportunity to talk to other viewers, to exchange opinions on the screen and to post impressions. The service is provided on television channels “ Okhotnik i Rybolov ”, “ Kinopokas ”, “ Teen TV ”; “ Teleputeschestwija ” and “Notschnoj Klub” used to be available on TV channels, and it is planned to introduce them on TV channels belonging to the “KinoAkademie”.
Teletext
From May 29, 2009 you could see the teletext on the First Channel ("Pervyj Kanal"). The teletext enables access to the fresh news from politics, business and sport, exchange rates, weather forecasts and the blocks of entertainment information at the touch of a button. In addition, television programs with subtitles are shown on the first channel. The teletext is also available on the “TV Zentr” channel.
TV mail
Every subscriber can register their mailbox with the address ***@tricolortv.ru on the website of «Trikolor TV». From there, or by means of an SMS message, you can send text mails and linked pictures to the receiver of any subscriber who has also registered his or her electronic mailbox. The message is presented on the television screen in the form of an envelope that can be opened and looked through. The messages that are sent by the operator are delivered to the subscriber anyway, regardless of whether the registration is present. The subscriber's wish for such information (for example, letters with the results of football matches) is not taken into account.
"Tricolor Internet"
On February 1st, 2010 Trikolor TV started to offer internet access via satellite as a service, the speed of the input signal is up to 1024 Kbit / s .
The information is delivered to the user's computer via satellite transmission. A satellite GPRS modem is used to request the necessary information. Any mobile phone service provider operating on the territory can act as a GPRS connection service provider . Outgoing data traffic is paid for in accordance with the tariff rate of the selected mobile network provider. Internet access was free in the course of 2010. As of 2011, there will be three tariff sets with a basic fee of 99, 699 and 999 rubles per month (with a maximum speed of 128, 512 and 1024 Kbit / s respectively).
KinoAkademie Tricolor TV
From December 27th, “Trikolor TV” subscribers, who receive the TV signal via Eutelsat W4 and W7 satellites, were offered a service. KinoAkademie from “Trikolor TV” is a service that enables the viewing of cinematographic masterpieces, new releases from the distribution system and favorite films at any time. Films of various genres and directions are available in KinoAkademie. "Cinema presentations" are held in four themed "halls", each with its own channel equipped by "Trikolor TV":
- “The first (green) hall” - melodramas, historical dramas, detective films;
- “The second (orange) hall” - comedies, children's films, cartoons;
- “The third (blue) hall” - action and science fiction films;
- "The fourth (black) hall" - thrillers, horror films.
The films are shown at certain intervals and the repertoire is renewed once a week. To get access to the screenings, you have to buy a cinema ticket. Access to the selected “hall” is made available to the viewer within one hour of payment via the subscriber's personal cabinet or by means of an SMS. The “KinoAkademie” service from “Trikolor TV” is provided for a small fee. Film announcements, the schedule for film screenings and other information will be published on the tricolor.tv website, as well as communicated in the broadcasts of "Trikolor TV" - information channel. The “KinoAkademie Trikolor TV” service is only available to owners of reception equipment of so-called Series-13 (ID of such equipment has ** 13 ******** format, that is, the 3rd and 4th digits in ID number - must be 13) as well as equipment owners with a 14-digit ID number.
Tricolor TV cinemas
As of July 1, 2011 "Tricolor TV" the service has "cinemas Tricolor TV" launched, which offers an opportunity to see every day up to 12 films. This service is free until the end of 2011. Film screenings start every half hour and the repertoire is renewed every 12 days. The service is available to all subscribers who are part of the “Super-Optimum” package and who have receiving equipment that is suitable for receiving MPEG-4 signals (this includes the following models: GS-8300, GS-8300M, GS -8300N, GS-8304).
Charity
In late 2007, NSK launched a charity program to install satellite TV in stationary social facilities in Russia. As part of the program, all orphanages and old people's homes in 68 selected territories will be equipped with basic equipment for tricolor TV reception. The aim of the program is to provide all students with access to the educational resources of modern digital television in order to promote their personal development and social adjustment. The program is financed by SAO Nazionalnaja sputnikowaja kompanija, Eutelsat Communications, the specialist chain NoLimit Electronics and regional authorized dealers from “Trikolor TV”.
