Tropico 5 is an economic simulation by the Bulgarian developer Haemimont Games and the fifth part of the Tropico series, which was published in 2014.
The biggest innovations are a new graphics engine, a four-player multiplayer mode, a game time that extends over several epochs and the possibility of building dynasties.
Tropico 5 is now also available for Linux and macOS via Steam . The Xbox 360 version appeared in November 2014. The implementation for the Playstation 4 was published in Europe in April 2015. A version for the Xbox One followed in May 2016.
The government of Thailand imposed a distribution ban on Tropico 5 in 2014 . According to local publisher New Era Thailand, the government has classified the game as a "threat to national security" in Thailand.
