Trostyanez ( Ukrainian Тростянець ; Russian Тростянец ) is a settlement in the south of the Ukrainian Oblast Chernihiv with about 900 inhabitants (2001).

The settlement, first mentioned in writing in 1549, is the administrative center of the 46.5211 km² district council in the east of Itschnja Rajon , which also includes the villages of Barwinkowe ( Барвінкове , ) with 2 inhabitants and Wereskuny ( Верескуни , ) with around 300 inhabitants belong.

The village is located at an altitude of 166  m , 42 km southeast of the Itschnja district center and about 180 km southeast of the Chernihiv oblast center . The T-25-29 territorial road runs through Trostyanets .

In the settlement there is the 1834 by Ivan Skoropadsky ( Іван Михайлович Скоропадський ; 1804-1887), founded 204.7 hectare National dendrological park "Trostyanets" of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine ( Державний дендрологічний парк "Тростянець" НАН України ) a monument of landscape architecture.
