Trude Fontana
Trude Fontana (born July 24, 1910 in Salzburg as Trude Landwehr von Pragenau , † October 9, 1998 in Mödling ) was an Austrian writer .
Life
She spent the first years of her life in Vienna , from 1916 she lived in Teschen (Silesia, now Cieszyn, Poland), where her father was the director of the humanistic grammar school. There she also graduated from high school. Studied German and Sanskrit in Vienna. In addition, she began vocal training in Vienna, Berlin and Milan.
In 1938 she married the architect Mario Fontana in Milan, with whom she had three children.
In 1945 the family moved to Grein / Donau in Austria . A lively writing activity began there. In 1955 she moved to Laßnitzhöhe near Graz . It is here that she created most of her work.
From 1986 until her death she lived in Maria Enzersdorf , south of Vienna.
Her academic and spiritual interests led her to make numerous trips to the classical sites in the Mediterranean and India .
Trude Fontana was very close to Buddhism ( Jainism ), was a vegetarian , a committed animal rights activist , and she supported several social institutions.
Works
During her stay in Grein, she wrote her first two novels, numerous short stories, novellas, poems and a collection of Greiner fairy tales .
Stories and articles appeared in various newspapers (including Oberösterreichische Nachrichten , Die Furche , Südost-Tagespost ). Fontana also worked for the Austrian radio and Rai Bozen as well as for school radio programs.
