Trude Unruh (August 2002)

Gertrud "Trude" Unruh born. Kremer (born March 7, 1925 in Essen ) is a former German politician and author .

Life and work

After graduating from secondary school , Trude Unruh worked as a clerk and later chief secretary at the Krupp company in Essen from 1941 . She is widowed and has two sons.

Parties

From 1968 to 1973 she was a member of the SPD , from 1973 to 1978 of the FDP . In 1978 she was a co-founder of the Green Action Future (GAZ) party in North Rhine-Westphalia , 1979 a member of the Green Alternative List , 1979 to 1980 of the Citizens' Party . In 1989 she initiated the founding of the party Die Grauen - Graue Panther . Although she announced in March 2000 that she would step down within the next two years, she held the office for another seven years due to the lack of a successor. In autumn 2007 Norbert Raeder was elected as her successor; then she became honorary chairman. At the same time, her party got into a fundraising affair, as a result of which it decided to dissolve it in March 2008.

Mandates

From 1987 to 1990 Unruh was a member of the German Bundestag . She was elected as a non-party on the state list of North Rhine-Westphalia of the Greens . However, it was from the Grünen- on 13 September 1989 fraction excluded and then acted as non-attached the newly founded party , the horror in the Bundestag.

Viewpoints

In her political engagement, Trude Unruh devoted herself above all to solidarity , civil and women's rights and ecology . However, the main focus was on dealing with aging and the German pension system . In 1975 she founded the Senior Citizens Protection Association in Wuppertal , also known as the Gray Panther . Since 1996 there has also been a Trude Unruh Academy and a Graue Panther Foundation .
