Kvalifikační soutěž Středočeská 1st league 1927

The Czechoslovak football championship 1927/28 was played from August 4, 1927 to July 3, 1928 in the so-called Středočeská 1st league .

The first division was played with seven teams that had qualified in the qualifying round in the spring of 1927. This included the best six teams in the qualification of the first division and the champions of the second division qualification, the SK Čechie Karlín . The Středočeská 1st league was a professional league . Only teams that had committed to the professional statute in 1925 took part in it. Six teams came from Prague , plus SK Kladno .

Championship course

The league was played in a round trip in the fall of 1927 and in the spring of 1928. The winner was Viktoria Žižkov with two points ahead of Slavia Prague .

Viktoria Žižkov dominated the first half of the season. The future champions lost their only point on matchday 1 through a 1-1 draw at Slavia Prague. On Matchday 4 Viktoria Žižkov was 3-1 down at half-time at Sparta Prague, but still won 5-3. Last was Bohemians , formerly AFK Vršovice, with only one point from the draw against the later relegated ČAFC Vinohrady . The bad performance of the team was due to the difficult acclimatization after returning from an extensive tour of Australia, which also led to the name change.

In the second half of the season Viktoria Žižkov showed her nerves and let down feathers, Sparta Prague gradually caught up. Viktorka lost 1-0 against Bohemians away, followed by a 2-1 home defeat against bottom of the table, ČAFC. The game against Sparta on the 2nd matchday had been postponed to July due to the unplayability of the pitch. When the last game day was played, Viktoria Žižkov was on a Scandinavian tour, just like a year ago. There the team received the message that they had become champions through a 1-0 defeat Sparta against Bohemians. The catch-up game between Viktoria Žižkov and Sparta Prague, which would have been a game for the championship if Sparta had against Bohemians, had become meaningless and ended 1-1.

The first division had to leave ČAFC Vinohrady, who was replaced by SK Libeň in the 1928/29 season .
