Tschepeli ( Ukrainian Чепелі ; Russian Чепели , Polish Czepiele ) is a village in the east of the western Ukrainian Lviv Oblast with about 360 inhabitants (2006).
Tschepeli belongs together with the villages of Penjaky ( Пеняки ), Litovyshche ( Літовище ) and Malynyshche ( Малинище ) to the district council of Penjaky , in the south of the Brody district . The Brody Rajon Center is 34 km north of Tschepeli. The Lviv Oblast Center is about 115 km west of the village.
The village already existed in the aristocratic republic of Poland-Lithuania and belonged to the Austrian crown land of Galicia between 1774 and 1918 . After the end of the First World War , the village first came to the West Ukrainian People's Republic and then to the Second Polish Republic (in the Lviv Voivodeship , Powiat Brody, Gmina Pieniaki). At the beginning of the Second World War , Tschepeli was conquered by the Soviet Union in September 1939 and occupied by Germany from summer 1941 to 1944 . From 1944 onwards the village was part of the Ukrainian SSR within the Soviet Union and since its disintegration in 1991 it has been part of the independent Ukraine.
