Tschetwertnja ( Ukrainian and Russian Четвертня ; Polish Czetwertnia ) is a village in the east of the Ukrainian Volyn Oblast with about 1300 inhabitants (2001).
The old Slavic village, first mentioned in the 11th century, grew into a large settlement by the 13th century and became a city with more than 2000 inhabitants in the 16th century. There was already a printing shop here in 1625. Between July 3, 1941 and February 2, 1944, the village was occupied by Wehrmacht troops.
Geographical location
The village with an area of 23.02 km² belongs administratively to the Kolky settlement community (Ukrainian Колківська селищна громада Kolkivska selyschtschna hromada ). It is located in the southwest of Manevychi Rajon , on the banks of the Styr at an altitude of 173 m . The Kolky community center is 18 km to the north-east, the Manevychi district center about 30 km to the north-east and the Lutsk Oblast center 40 km south of Cheetwertnja.
