Kolky (Ukrainian Колки ; Russian Колки / Kolki , Polish Kołki ) is a small urban-type settlement in northern western Ukraine. It is located in the Volyn Oblast on the Styr River , the Oblast capital Lutsk is 47 kilometers southwest of the town.

The distances to larger cities are: 380 kilometers to Kiev , 47 kilometers to Lutsk, 82 kilometers to Kovel .

On June 9, 2017, the settlement became the center of the newly established Kolky settlement community (Ukrainian Колківська селищна громада / Kolkivska selyschtschna hromada ). At that includes also the 14 villages Borowytschi (Боровичі) Hodomytschi (Годомичі) Hrusjatyn (Грузятин) Kalynivka (Калинівка) Krynytschne (Криничне) Marianivka (Мар'янівка) novoukrainka (Новоукраїнка) Ostrowky (Островки) Rosnytschi (Розничі), Rudnyky (Рудники), Semky (Семки), Sytnyzja (Ситниця), Starosillja (Старосілля) and Tschetwertnja (Четвертня), which until then formed the settlement .

history

The place was mentioned in writing for the first time in 1545, belonged to the Russian Empire until 1918/21 and was in the Volhynia Governorate , after which it fell to Poland and came to the Volhynia Voivodeship in the Powiat Łuck . As a result of the Hitler-Stalin Pact , the Soviet Union occupied the area and elevated the village to an urban-type settlement. After the German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941, the place was under German rule until 1944, when it was annexed by the Soviet Union again after the Second World War and has been part of today's Ukraine since 1991.
