Tschornywody (Ukrainian Чорниводи ; Russian Черниводы / Tscherniwody , Polish Czarna ) is a village in the Ukrainian Oblast Khmelnyzkyj with about 1,800 inhabitants (2015).

A local history museum was opened in 1972 in the village, first mentioned in writing in 1407.

geography

The village was km² with an area of 3,755 by August 2017, the center of an independent District Municipality in the east of Rajon Horodok and belongs administratively to the municipality since the 6 Rajonzentrums km northwest lying Horodok .

Tschornywody is on 282  m height on the banks of Tschornywidka ( Чорнивідка ), a 30 km long, left tributary of the Smotrych River about 50 km southwest of Oblastzentrum Khmelnitsky .

Population development

The history of the towns and villages of the Ukrainian SSR in accordance counted Tschornywody early 1970s 2,616 people. In the census of 1989, the place had 2239 inhabitants and 2001 were counted 2074 inhabitants. By 2015 the population continued to decrease to 1,818 residents.
