Tuğba Güvenç (born July 9, 1994 in Istanbul ) is a Turkish middle-distance and obstacle runner .

Athletic career

Tuğba Güvenç gained her first international experience at the European Cross Country Championships 2013 in Serbia, where she finished 24th in the U20 rankings. Two years later she won the U23 European Championships in Tallinn in 9: 36.14 minutes and thus qualified for the World Championships in Beijing , where she was eliminated in the preliminary round with 9: 58.07 minutes . The following year she took part in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro for the first time, but did not reach the final there either with 9: 49.93 minutes . In 2017 she took part in the 3000 meter run at the European Indoor Championships in Belgrade , but was eliminated there with 9: 35.86 minutes in the lead-up. At the Islamic Solidarity Games in Baku she finished fourth with a new best time of 9: 26.09 min and thus qualified for the World Championships in London , where she was eliminated again in the preliminary round with 10: 13.03 min . Only two weeks later she won the Student World Games in Taipei in 9: 51.27 minutes.

Two years later she was eighth in the Summer Universiade in Naples in 10: 08.19 minutes.

In 2015 Güvenç became Turkish champion in the obstacle course and in 2017 indoor champion in the 3000 meter run .
