Tullio Pane

Tullio Pane (born June 16, 1930 in Naples , † October 3, 2001 in Civitavecchia , Province of Rome ) was an Italian singer .

Career

Pane attended the Conservatorio San Pietro a Majella in his hometown and was able to begin training as an opera singer ( tenor ) thanks to a scholarship from La Scala in Milan . In 1952 he won a singing competition advertised by the Rai and became an integral part of a radio orchestra. In 1954 he presented together with Achille Togliani Suonno d'amore at the Festival di Napoli and won the competition. At the Sanremo Festival in 1955 , he sang the contributions Buongiorno tristezza and Il torrente with Claudio Villa who landed in the first two places. In the same year he also achieved third place at the Festival di Napoli with 'E lampare (together with Gino Latilla ).

In the following years the singer successfully took part in other musical events at home and abroad and released records. From the 70s he turned back to serious music and had many international engagements as an opera singer. In the last years of his life he occasionally returned to television. In 2001 he died at the age of 75 after a long illness.
