Economy, history and infrastructure
The place lives - in addition to agriculture primarily in self-sufficiency - mainly from forestry, around half of the working population (460 people) is employed in several forest companies and sawmills. The place as such was founded in 1960 by a wood processing company, but experienced a decline after the end of the state economy. The felling is now more than 100,000 solid cubic meters annually; in addition to sawn timber, wood briquettes are also produced.
The place is on the Trans-Mongolian Railway Ulaanbaatar - Darchan - Süchbaatar - Russian border (- Ulan-Ude ), and the trunk road from Batsümber to Baruuncharaa .
In the last few years gold has been mined in the area - and in some cases illegally.
A new medical therapy and rehabilitation center has been built here since 2014. The injury rate in forest and woodwork is extremely high, there are 300 chronically ill and permanently disabled people living in the village. So far there was only one overburdened hospital ward with a doctor and insufficient physiotherapy equipment. This project is supported by the Austro-Mongolian Society .
