The Turtas ( Russian Турта́с ) is a 241 km long right tributary of the Irtysh in the Tyumen Oblast in western Siberia .
It arises at the confluence of its two source rivers Bolshoi Turtas and Maly Turtas . It flows with many meanders in a westerly direction and flows north of Tobolsk into the Irtysh . The settlement of the same name Turtas is located on the lower reaches . The Turtas drains an area of 12,100 km². The river is mainly fed by the snowmelt. Its discharge at the Nizhny Chebutan gauge , 49 km above the mouth, is 44 m³ / s.
