The type Peenestrom is a series built coaster type of the Peene shipyard in Wolgast.

history

At the Leipzig Spring Fair 1990 gave Sun Ship Schiffahrtskontor KG of Emden shipowner Manfred Lauterjung on behalf of 14 Reeder companies to build a total of 14 replicas of the ship type Isartal designed by the Papenburg shipyard Hermann Sürken at the Peene shipyard in order. Deliveries took place between the second half of 1992 and the mid-1990s. The order initiated a realignment of the production program after privatization and, in terms of number, was one of the shipyard's most successful series.

The ships are mainly used in bulk and general cargo transport as well as in wood and paper product transport on tramp services for small and medium-sized trips.

technology

Most of the ships in the series are powered by a four- stroke diesel engine from the manufacturer Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz , which acts on a variable-pitch propeller via a reduction gear . A wave generator is not installed. The berthing and casting off maneuvers are not supported by a conventional bow thruster , but by a Schottel propeller with a fixed pitch embedded in the ship's bottom .

The ice-reinforced hulls were assembled in a sectional construction. The fixed superstructures of the ships are arranged very aft.

The box-shaped individual cargo hold (box-shaped) with a volume of 4666 m 3 is 56.55 meters long and 10.20 meters wide. He is responsible for the transport of containers and heavy reinforced and has four removable Scots , also known as steerage can be used. The loading space is locked by hydraulically operated folding hatch covers . The ships were delivered without loading gear .
