The village, first mentioned in writing in 1230, was called Beken ( Бекень ) until 1946 and then Bobowe ( Бобове ) until December 2000 .

In the flood at the end of 1998, 344 houses in the village were destroyed.

The village is located at an altitude of 120  m on the left bank of the Tisza , 22 km southwest of the Rajon center Vynohradiv and 90 km southeast of the Oblast center Uzhhorod . The Ukrainian highway M 26 runs through the village .

The main attraction of the village is the Reformed (formerly Catholic) church, which was built in the 13th century in Romanesque style and later rebuilt several times.
