Pyjterfolwo ( Ukrainian Пийтерфолво ; Russian Пийтерфолво Pijterfolwo , Slovak Petrovo , Hungarian Tiszapéterfalva ) is a village in the Ukrainian Transcarpathian Oblast with about 2000 inhabitants (2001).
The village, first mentioned in writing in 1220, was called Petrowo ( Петрово ) between 1946 and December 2000 . Since 2015 there has been a partnership with the Hungarian city of Tatabánya .
Pyjterfolwo is the administrative center of the district municipality of the same name near the Ukrainian- Hungarian and Ukrainian-Romanian borders in the southwest of Vynohradiv Rajon , which also includes the villages of Tyssobyken and Forholan ( Форголань , ⊙ ) with around 850 inhabitants.
The village is located at an altitude of 120 m on the left bank of the Tisza , 23 km southwest of the Rajon center Vynohradiv and 93 km southeast of the Oblast center Uzhhorod . The Ukrainian highway M 26 runs through the village .
96% of the population is Hungarian and the majority of the Reformed denomination. There are also supporters of the Greek Catholic and Orthodox denominations in the village. Vegetables are traditionally grown in the village. There is also a canning factory in Pyjterfolwo and a mansion built in 1864, which served as the summer residence for the Hungarian Minister of Agriculture, Endre György (1848–1927), and which now includes a picture gallery with works by Transcarpathian painters.
