Tzvi Marx

Tzvi Claude René Marx (born January 7, 1942 in Montpellier ) is an American rabbi .

Life

Tzvi Marx's parents come from Luxembourg . They fled to the unoccupied France of the Vichy regime , where Tzvi Marx was born on January 7, 1942 in Montpellier . The family later fled to Switzerland . In 1948 the family left for New York City . Marx is American, but has been in the Netherlands since 1996 , where he teaches Talmud at the Levisson Instituut for prospective rabbis.

Tzvi C. Marx graduated from Yeshiva University in 1971 and received his Ph.D. PhD at the Catholic University of Utrecht . He became director of education at the Shalom Hartman Institute in Jerusalem . He later became director at the Folkertsma Institute for Talmud and Jewish Studies in Hilversum . He lectured at Radboud University Nijmegen and Windesheim College in Utrecht . He is co-editor of Tenachon magazine .
