The Troststraße underground station is a station on the U1 line under Favoritenstraße in Vienna's 10th district, Favoriten . The opening took place on September 2, 2017. Its construction was part of the extension of the U1 from Reumannplatz to Oberlaa station .
Station system
The Troststraße station was built in a low position under Favoritenstraße, it is around 700 m from the neighboring Reumannplatz station , which was the end of the line until the opening of the U1 to Oberlaa. The station has 115 m long side platforms in separate tubes between the tracks. At each end there is a cross connection and a staircase. The northern staircase leads to Favoritenstrasse in the area of the intersection with Angeligasse, the southern staircase is in Klausenburger Strasse west of Favoritenstrasse. The southern staircase has two elevators, three escalators and a staircase, the northern one has two elevators and a staircase.
Design
The Lines and Double installation by Michael Kienzer is located on the distribution floor under the Klausenburger Straße exit . The artist reacts to the structural elements of the station with a sculptural antithesis; the title itself is ambiguous. Lines refer to additional delicate and straight cuts in the wall panels along the escalators, which start at the bottom and almost extend up to the entrance. For the time being, the central sculptural element Double can be related to a third, newly constructed and non-accessible shaft in the basement right next to the double lift there.
Near the platforms there is a figure of St. Barbara, the patron saint of miners.
