Michael Kienzer (* 1962 in Steyr ) is an Austrian artist.

Life

From 1977 to 1979 Michael Kienzer attended the sculpture department of Josef Pillhofer at the Graz School of Applied Arts . From 1981 to 1985 he studied sculpture with Bruno Gironcoli at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna .

In his works he deals with objects, installations and drawings and addresses concepts such as space, time, surface and compression. His succinct interventions, which work with the means of space, shift and concentrate the action of physical forces, disturb and change the seemingly immovable structures of the place.

In the old arsenal of Weikendorf , a cultural and social center was set up through a competition based on a design by Michael Kienzer.

Michael Kienzer taught as a visiting professor for art and communicative practice at the Institute for Fine and Media Art at the University of Applied Arts Vienna in 2005/2006 and has been exhibiting at home and abroad since 1984.

Kienzer lives and works in Vienna.
