Blocking

The stop was temporarily closed on October 23, 2011 due to suspected mining damage. The U18 line between the Heiße Kirche and the main train station was also closed due to the risk of collapse . During test drilling, cavities and loosening were found to a depth of six meters below the platform, so that an immediate closure was necessary for safety reasons. From January 18, 2012, the U18 line ran again between the Heißen Kirche and the main train station, but initially did not stop at the Mühlenfeld underground station. This has been started up again since February 2, 2012.

The cost of repairing the mining damage is estimated at 1.8 million euros. During the three-month renovation work, 260 boreholes were drilled into the ground under the underground station in order to examine the subsoil of the structure to a depth of 30 meters for unknown seams close to the surface. The cavities found and the boreholes were then filled with a total of 580 m³ of cement suspension.
