The UNCAF Nations Cup 1999 was held from 17th to 28th March 1999 in Costa Rica instead. The games were all played in the capital, San José . The winner was the host Costa Rica , which won its third title.

Qualification for the CONCACAF Gold Cup

The UNCAF Nations Cup 1999 also served as qualification for the CONCACAF Gold Cup 2000 . The first three teams qualified directly, the fourth-placed El Salvador had to play a play-off game against Canada , Haiti and Cuba between October 6 and 10, 1999 . As the bottom of the group, El Salvador could not qualify for the Gold Cup.
