The USS Little Rock (CL-92 / CLG-4 / CG-4) is a decommissioned light cruiser of the United States Navy that has been a museum ship since 1977 . It is the only surviving example of the Cleveland class .

construction
The light cruiser was at the Cramp Shipbuilding - shipyard in Philadelphia on March 6, 1943, laid keel and had its launch on August 27, 1944 went into service on 17 June 1945. The USS Little Rock was after the city of Little Rock in Named the US state of Arkansas .
modification
The ship was decommissioned for the first time on June 24, 1949. In the 1950s, it was in the New York Shipbuilding Corporation -Werft to a guided missile cruiser of Galveston-class rebuilt. Instead of the aft 152 mm guns, it received a twin launcher for radar-controlled anti - aircraft missiles of the RIM-8 Talos type and instead of the second heavy front turret, larger bridge structures with staff rooms so that they could be used as a flagship . During the conversion, the ship was reclassified to CLG – 4 on May 23, 1957. The renovation was completed on December 19, 1959 and on June 3, 1960 it was put into service again. On July 1, 1975, the Little Rock was reclassified again and was given the designation CG – 4.
Museum ship
The ship was finally decommissioned on November 22, 1976 and purchased in 1977 by the city of Buffalo / New York . Since June 1, 1977, the USS Little Rock has been located next to the destroyer USS The Sullivans (DD-537) and the submarine USS Croaker (SS-246) as a museum ship in the " Buffalo and Erie County Naval & Military Park " on the banks of the Lake Erie .
