Udo Kawasser (* 1965 ) is an Austrian writer , translator , contemporary dancer and choreographer .

Life

Udo Kawasser grew up in Lauterach on Lake Constance. He studied German , French and Spanish philology in Innsbruck and Vienna .

Kawasser works as a contemporary dancer and choreographer and writes poetry, prose and essays, which he has published in newspapers, magazines and anthologies in Austria, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Argentina, Mexico and Cuba.

In 2009 he took part in the 5th International Poetry Festival in Granada / Nicaragua .

Udo Kawasser translates Spanish-language literature into German and has worked with the Cuban author Carlos A. Aguilera in recent years. He translated several dossiers of Cuban, Chilean and Nicaraguan poetry for the literary magazines Lichtungen , Ostragehege and ndl . In 2002 he led a poetry translation workshop in Havana, from which the bilingual anthology of German-language poetry El cerebro que canta. Siete poetas de lengua alemana emerged .

Udo Kawasser lives in Vienna.
