The Uina is an approximately 14 km long right tributary of the Inn in the Italian province of South Tyrol and in the Swiss canton of Graubünden . It flows through the Val d'Uina , a side valley of the Lower Engadine , and drains an area of ​​45 square kilometers. The river runs through the municipal area of Mals (I) and Scuol (CH).

The Uina in the Quar Gorge

The Uina rises from a small mountain lake between Fernerspitz and Schadler below the Fuorcla Sesvenna pass in Italy near the border with Switzerland. Here it takes in several source streams and crosses the state border at the Schlinig Pass early on. The river now crosses the Quar Gorge, where it has eaten deep into the limestone , and finally reaches the Val d'Uina . It flows through the densely wooded valley in a north-westerly direction and flows into Sur En at 1114  m above sea level. M. in the Inn .
