Ulf G. Stuberger

Ulf Günter Stuberger (born September 5, 1949 in Oberhausen-Sterkrade ; † October 4, 2015 in Pforzheim ) was a German journalist and book author .

Stuberger was a co-founder of the Justice Press Conference Karlsruhe (JPK) at the Supreme Federal Courts as a counterpart to the Federal Press Conference . As a correspondent at the Federal Constitutional Court (BVerfG), the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) and the Federal Prosecutor General , he specialized in the areas of justice and law , espionage and terrorism .

Life

From the prisoners' point of view, he wrote the book The excluded prisoners about the penal system in the Federal Republic of Germany , which sparked some discussions. He was the only journalist to watch the Baader-Meinhof trial against the leading members of the Red Army Faction (RAF) in the courtroom in Stuttgart-Stammheim . He wrote three books about this time ( Die Tage von Stammheim - As an eyewitness in the RAF trial , In der Strafsache gegen Andreas Baader, Ulrike Meinhof, Jan-Carl Raspe, Gudrun Ensslin because of murder, among others - Documents from the trial and The RAF files - Deeds and motives, perpetrators and victims ) and worked on other publications on this topic. In May 1978 the police found a slip of paper in a conspiratorial apartment in Frankfurt, on which people and institutions were noted that were alleged to be victims of the RAF. Stuberger's name was also noted on this death list .

Stuberger was a correspondent for the Reuters news agency and numerous daily newspapers. a. at stern and Der Spiegel , radio and television. He also worked for the press office of the Federal Ministry of Justice and lived for a long time in France and Africa, most recently in Namibia : this resulted in lectures and book publications about the Owambo region. The non-profit organization Bildung für Namibia e. V. , of which he became the first chairman.

In 2007 he offered Brigitte Mohnhaupt an internship in his press office in Karlsruhe by open letter, although he suspected that Ms. Mohnhaupt had him put on the RAF death list at the time. He was of the opinion that all special rights for RAF terrorists should be abolished; their behavior resembles that of members of the Mafia or many Nazi perpetrators. In doing so, they always stated that the reason for their actions was that the silence and lying of their parents' generation from the Nazi era had led them to commit their acts of violence. Stuberger stood up for a "truth commission" based on the South African model in order to clear up the complex of RAF acts. He assumed that there were two groups of perpetrators who had to break their silence: RAF terrorists on the one hand and representatives of the state on the other, who had also committed serious violations of the law during the search and who have kept many documents under lock and key to this day.
