Uli Rudel

Ulrich "Uli" Rudel (born January 1, 1943 in Görlitz ) is a former ice hockey player who works as an ice hockey coach .

Player career

Uli Rudel only started ice hockey in Düsseldorf, where he first played with the youngsters of the EHC Düsseldorf and later with the Düsseldorfer EG . Due to his move from Düsseldorf to Cologne, he had to suspend the 1962/63 season before playing for the Cologne EK from 63/64 . He then moved back to Düsseldorfer EG, where he was promoted to the Bundesliga in the 64/65 season . After the 65/66 season he moved to Cologne, where he first played for the Cologne EK and later for the Cologne EC in the Bundesliga. After the 72/73 season he switched to Herner EV , where he played until 1975.

After the end of his active playing career, he continued to play in the traditional team of the Cologne EC (certainly until 2013).

Coaching career

As early as 1967, Uli Rudel began to work alongside his playing career as a coach, where he first joined the youngsters at the Cologne EC, later with Duisburger SC and Düsseldorf EG.

The job as head coach in the senior sector he took over first during the 1975/76 season at the Cologne EC and then from 1982/83 from the Solinger SC , with whose team he was promoted to the 2nd division . After working for the Herner EV, he switched back to the offspring of the Cologne EC before taking over the coaching position for the newly formed amateur team of the Cologne EC in 2011/12. In May 2015 he took over the position of assistant coach at EC Bergisch Land .

Internationally, Uli Rudel took over the coaching office of the DEB Olympic team between 1985 and 1995 and was a member of the coaching council under national coach Xaver Unsinn .

Professional career

After he had already started studying in Cologne in 1962, he began after 1975 with the legal traineeship as a prerequisite for the later work as a teacher at the grammar school. Then he switched to the University of Education in Bonn .
