Ulla north

Ulla Norden , bourgeois Ulla Kleiner , widowed Ulla Ilgner-Norden (born December 4, 1940 in Mannheim ; † March 5, 2018 in Bad Neuenahr ) was a German pop singer and presenter .

Life and professional history

After school, Ulla Norden trained in singing, ballet and acting in Constance . She recorded her first singles at Ariola in the early 1960s . One, two, three, that's magic ; Little Blue Violets (1961); Sweet as Chocolate (1962).

In the mid-1960s, she won a hit competition and then got another record deal. The resulting recording Addio Romeo was not yet a success. In 1966 she appeared on the Rudi Carrell Show . It wasn't until the late 1960s that she made her breakthrough with the title That's too good to be true . In 1967 she married the Deutschlandfunk music editor Peter Puder. With hits like I am in love with my own husband , she was able to further expand her position in the German music business. In the late 1970s and early 1980s, her songs Hol mir die Sonne (1979) and the two cover versions We're crazy, we both (1978, You're the Greatest Lover by Luv ' ) and Urlaub, mach mal Urlaub (1981, Hands Up from Ottawan ) for another career boost .

In 1982, the chief spokesperson of Radio Luxemburg hired her as a radio presenter. When Radio Luxemburg started its television program RTL , Ulla Norden took over a moderation position there and from then on presented her artist colleagues on the show Deutsche Szene . From June 8th, 1988 to December 29th, 2006 she presented the ARD night express and the morning melody on WDR 4 . The program (Musik) pavillon followed later , until it presented the program Gut auflag from 2003 . The super-wish hit parades that she moderated with her colleagues Rainer Nitschke and Hermann Hillebrand were also popular .

In 1998 she moved to the Rubin Records record company . Under the direction of her new producer Marc Alpina , Ulla Norden started a comeback attempt. The single This man gives me food for thought , released in 1999, reached top positions in the hit parades and radio charts. A few days after the single was released, her husband, Peter Puder, succumbed to serious cancer. Then Ulla Norden withdrew from singing for the time being.

In the middle of 2000 another release from the comeback album was released with Dein Platz ist immer in the first row . Critics and audience alike reacted positively to the new style of music and brought this and the following four releases further top placements in the hit parades and radio charts.

In 2003 Ulla Norden married the music publisher Günter Ilgner , who died a year later as a result of an intestinal operation. In accordance with his wishes, the song All Paths in Life, which he produced with a large orchestra, appeared at the end of the year . The song shows Ulla Norden from a hitherto completely unknown, melancholy side. The song held its own for several weeks in the first place of the official Airplay TOP 20 of the German radio. In 2009 her album In old Freshness was released with 14 songs, including two new recordings of Urlaub, mach mal Urlaub and Wir sind crazy, both of us . Shortly afterwards, duet recordings of some of the tracks on this album were produced with Michel van Dam, of which The Whispers of the Wind was the first to be released - it was a great success for both parties. Subsequently, the duet recording of Simply do nothing achieved a respectable success. At the end of 2010 the joint duet album by Ulla Norden and Michel van Dam was released with the new titles Dreams finally live , Die Kraft in dir , Danny Boy and Komm ab Bord . Ulla Norden and Michel van Dam appeared with Danny Boy in March 2011 on NDR television. Ulla Norden then retired after a career spanning almost 50 years.

Ulla Norden died on March 5, 2018 at the age of 77. She last lived in Lechenich , before that in Herbert Hillebrand's former home in Rath , then in Disternich and was buried on March 16, 2018 in the Blessem cemetery.
