Ulrich-Arthur Birk

Ulrich-Arthur Birk (born November 13, 1949 in Leibi, now Nersingen ) is a German labor and social lawyer . He is a lawyer and was a professor at the Otto Friedrich University in Bamberg .

biography

After attending the humanistic grammar school in Memmingen, Birk graduated from high school in June 1969. From 1969 to 1974 he studied law at the University of Regensburg . This was followed by his legal clerkship in Regensburg, which he completed in 1977 with the second state examination in law. 1982 Birk doctorate at Wolfgang Däubler at the University of Bremen Dr. jur. with the topic: The co-determination of the works council in the company pension scheme . After working as a lawyer and legal protection secretary at the DGB legal protection in Bamberg, Birk worked from 1980 to 1985 as a research assistant for Johannes Münder at the TU Berlin . From 1986 to 1990 Birk was a professor at the Frankfurt University of Applied Sciences , department of social work, subject area law of social work . 1991/1992 followed a research stay at the Universidad de Deusto in Bilbao, Spain. From 1992 to 2009 he held a professorship for law in the social work department of the University of Bamberg. From 2009 to 2015 Birk was Professor of Social Security Law and Migration Law at the Faculty of Social and Economic Sciences at the University of Bamberg. He retired in the 2015 summer semester and now works as a lawyer in Bamberg.

Birk is a proven expert in company pension schemes . It advises works councils on all matters relating to company pension schemes in accordance with Section 80 (3) BetrVG. In the last 15 years he has worked for works councils of over 100 companies in Germany, e. B. for the general works council of ZF Friedrichshafen AG, the general works council of Linde AG and the group works council of the ERGO insurance group. Birk is the owner of the Institute for Company Pensions and Working Time Accounts (IBA) in Bamberg.
